Description
The St. John’s wort (Perforate St John’s-wort) is herbaceous, perennial medicinal plant, 20 to 80 cm tall. Late spring to early summer is filled with yellow-gold, striking flowers. It loves sunny locations and rich, limestone soils. It is grown dry in the field, and can be grown in a pot, filling the balcony with colour with its golden flowers. It is also native throughout Greece.
St. John’s wort essential oil has been studied for many years in medicine and pharmacology. It is used either as a decoction or as an oil, or even as an ingredient of medicines due to its antidepressant, antiviral and antibacterial action. -1
