Description
The Royal Genovese (Ocimum basilicum ‘Genovese’) is an annual herbaceous aromatic herb, belonging to the basil family (Ocimum) family. It is distinguished by its sweet aroma and its wide leaves. It loves moderately fertile, well-drained soils and needs frequent and regular watering. Its typically fragrant leaves have adorned courtyards and balconies for centuries, and it has been successfully cultivated in the Mediterranean, especially in Italy, where it is named after the city.
This particular variety has a sweet taste with citrus notes. It is traditionally used in making pesto sauce and is successfully combined with red sauces, pasta, fish and meat. Basil essential oil is used in cosmetology.
