Description
Radish is an herbaceous plant grown here for centuries in all parts of the world. It is a traditional variety with light green leaves and white or blue flowers. The leaves and flowers are used raw or boiled in salads and pies giving a spicy and slightly bitter taste. The radicchio root is considered beneficial in diabetes as it contains insulin, which is why it is used as a herb or decoction.
The radicchio is an upright growing plant, the cultivation of which is done outdoors during the autumn and winter months in sunny and fertile locations, well-drained soils. Its cultivation has no special requirements so it is a good choice for amateur gardeners.
